James 1: 17-27

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

 

(In Reference)-"Every average gift and every excellent gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, who is not changing, neither shadow of turning.

 

(In other words): Everything received to us comes from above and comes down from the Father, who is unchangeable. There is no shadow of turning with Gods word.

 

“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”

 

(In Reference)- "Of his own “will” he gave us the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”

 

“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:”

 

(In Reference)- "Therefore, my beloved siblings, let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.”

 

“For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God”

 

(In Reference)- "For the anger of man doesn’t work the righteousness of God”

 

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.”

 

(In Reference)-"Therefore lay apart all uncleanliness  and unnecessary bad behavior, and receive with patience and obedience the established Word, which is able to save your souls.”        

 

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

 

(In Reference)-"But be you doers of the word, and not just listeners, tricking your own selves."

 

"For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:"

 

(In Reference)-"For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man who sees his natural self through a glass.”

 

"For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was."

 

(In Reference)-"For he sees himself, and goes his way, and straightway forget what manner of man he was.”

 

"But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."

 

 

(In Reference)-"But whosoever look into the law of freedom, and continues there, and him being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed for his actions.”

 

"If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain."

 

 

(In Reference)- "If any man among you seem to be religious, and doesn’t close their tongue, but tricks his own heart, this man's religion is fruitless.”

 

 

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."

 

(In Reference)- "Genuine religion and perfect before God and the Father is this, To visit those who don’t know their father and those who are unmarried in their wrong doings, and keep himself clean from the world."

Naughtiness- Bad or mischievous behavior, especially in children or pets; bad behavior, when someone does not do what they are told to do.

 

Meekness- the fact or conditoon of being meek; submissive ~ (Synonym- patience; long-suffering; forbearance; gentleness;)

 

Engrafted- practices used to secure gain; hard work; insert or fix ( something/someone) permanently to something else) ~(Synonym- add, fix, work, effort, stick with it)

 

Deceiving- cause (someone) to believe something that is not true, typically in order to gain some personal advantage.; give a mistaken impression.; (Synonym- defraud; cheat; trick; mislead)

Beholdeth- see or observe ( a thing or person, especially a remarkable or impressive one) ~(Synonym- observe; see; view; watch)

 

Straightway- ( Synonym) right away; now; at once; as soon as possible; quickly;

 

Liberty- the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views.; the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. ~(Synonym- freedon; independence; free will; freeness)

 

Bridleth- restrain or control something; put a birdle on a horse,; hold back from

 

Religious- relating to or believing in a religion.; worship of a diving being; ~(Synonym- god-fearing; godly; believing; holy;)

 

Vain- having or showing an excessively high opinion of one's appearance, abilities, or worth.; producing no result; useless. ~(Synonym- conceited; narcissistic; self-centered; useless; pointless; self-obsessed; arragant;)

Pure- wholesome and untainted by immortality, especially that of a sexual nature.; free of any contamination; not mixed or adultered with any other substance or material.; (Synonym- solid; unadulterated; uncontaminated; unmixed; clean; perfect)

 

Undefiled- not defiled; pure.; ~( Synonyms- blameless; good; honorable; faultless;)

 

Affliction- something that causes pain or suffering; pain or suffering.; ~ ( Synonym- Disorder; illness; distress)

 

Fatherless- having no father because he is dead or absent from the home.; ( Synonym- adopted; illegitimate;)

 

Widow- a woman who has lost her spouse by death and has not remarried; become a widow or widower; lose one's spouse through death.;

Unspotted- not marked with spots.; ~ (Synonym- clean; stainless; innocent; blameless; upright; perfect)
